After the nord stream attacks, is avoiding war even realistic?

Doesn’t matter who did the deed, none of the governments involved now have any interest in peace.

The Country that deserves and could use NATO membership without seriously poking the Bear is ISRAEL, not the kleptocratic Ukraine.

One could make a strong case that while the US and its western EU minions claims to be focused on Ukraine, by imposing massive sanctions on Russia, yet it seems the EU countries are being punished much more than Russia. Is the US attempting to weaken the EU to the point the US can waltz in and take control?

To borrow from an Oldsmobile (a now defunked GM car model) commercial, "This isn't your father's United States".

Your attempt at even-handedness results in looking to be a risk-averse media person. Have you forgotten what's been going on for decades? How US interference is the main culprit, steered by God knows exactly who? How did Zelensky 'decide' anything other than whether it was time to change his green tee-shirt? Very disappointed.

What dems have an interest in the arms suppliers, making millions out of supplying Ukraine with all that hardware you detailed ???

When will that become a new well covered up travesty ??

Like a cornered wild beast, a fitting description of the current Russia, its really scary as they have proven to be toothless and quite pathetic, so yes they might turn to nuclear engagement, to save face and try show they do have strength...a new chess attack strategy,... all your attacks blunted so let's throw the queen at the enemy and hope for the best.!!! Might just work if the queen does not lose her crown !!!

REALLY !!!! How can we seriously place any trust in The voting as being anything but questionable, as we have seen in the last us fiasco, but this is in the middle of a highly volatile turbulent situation, where nothing could be considered acceptable from a voting point of view..

A probability of 1% acceptance of anything Russia claims my be more accurate than what ever they suggest.

It’s notable that you naively believe the fake referendum results conducted via home visits with armed Russian soldiers overseeing the vote. Russia does not have a track record of fair elections, so why would these fake referenda organized by Russia’s puppets be any different? 3.5 years ago southeastern Ukraine overwhelmingly voted for Zelensky (83% or more support in the currently occupied areas); the support in western Ukraine for him was much lower.

Also, you conveniently left out the fact that Ukraine applied for NATO membership AFTER Putin announced the illegal annexation. It’s unlikely Ukraine will join the NATO in the current circumstances, but the fact remains that Ukraine’s application was a reaction, not the trigger, to illegal Russian annexation claims.
